Launched in 2011, Talent Networks are considered the "architects" that meet with businesses and organizations to gather firsthand intelligence on the industry and assess their needs. Talent Networks share that information with the Talent Development Centers, considered the "builders," who then develop curricula and instruction programs based on information from businesses. Together, this Talent Development System, comprising both the Talent Networks and the Talent Development Centers, align training and education with in-demand skills, making New Jersey’s economy stronger than ever. To support these efforts, the Technology Advisory Network provides expertise on the technology needs for each Talent Network.

Components of the Talent Networks

Partner Engagement

The Talent Networks work intensively with businesses, local Workforce Development Boards, education institutions and other stakeholders through affinity groups known as targeted industry partnerships (TIP) in three distinct geographic areas of the state. The Talent Networks initiate dialogue on innovative ideas which lead to long-term solutions to industry challenges and develop pilot program proposals generated by TIP members.

Industry Intelligence

The Talent Networks work with LWD’s labor market analysts and engage businesses to identify industry workforce needs and trends to support individual businesses and the industry to become stronger and more competitive.  The Talent Networks also write plans for each targeted industry partnership region and an annual state of the industry executive summary informed by TIP members.

Industry Summit

Each Talent Network hosts a one-day industry summit to highlight the industry’s footprint nationally, statewide and regionally.

Social Media

All Talent Networks work cooperatively with LWD staff, industry organizations and networks to communicate information on the industry via social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter)
